Biopsy

A breast biopsy involves removing a sample of breast tissue to determine whether it is cancerous or benign (non-cancerous). Biopsy followed by pathological analysis is the only definitive way to determine if cancer is present.

The method of biopsy for each particular patient depends upon a number of factors such as whether or not the abnormality can be be felt or only seen with imaging, the size, shape and location of the abnormality and the number of abnormalities.
